The Importance Of Keywords
Keywords are a vital part of any website promotion or article you write on the internet. They are the means to attract customers to your product or online store as well, so using them right is a crucial learning process. The biggest obstacle to learning the often difficult task of optimizing keywords is that search engine algorithms (most notably at Google) change constantly and what worked before may not work now. SEO experts make good money keeping track of these changes, but I'll give you some free advice here. The big mistake many people make is in keyword "stuffing". While it is fairly common knowledge by now that stuffing will penalize your site in the eyes of Google, many still do it innocently enough in an effort to include common spelling mistake variations. They are not trying to over-optimize their website, but just don't want to lose customers who aren't spelling bee champions. The intention is fair enough, but the new reality is that it isn't needed at all anymore. Google automatically detects potential spelling errors and presents a "Did You Mean" option at the very top of the search page that directs the surfer to the right words. So, Google now compensates for the previously common problem of including all the variations of your keywords that could be spelled wrong. For example, I have a friend who is a painting contractor who is already number one on google for the word "painting" and the name of the city he is in. He was worried about spelling keyword variations, but I showed him that when you Google his city, along with any similar spelling variation, such as "paniting", he still remains number one, and that's without even using the "Did You Mean" link! Depending on your keywords, there could be spelling mistakes made by surfers that are so WAY off that even Google can't decipher it. Keep in mind that, if you strain your brain trying to come up with every single variation, that you'll still likely miss one you hadn't thought of, and you'll be thinning out your keyword percentage so much that even your "good" keywords won't be worth much weight. Be wise and optimize!
